Shimano 9-speed cassette CS-HG400-9 – available in five gradations

The Shimano CS-HG400-9 is an Alivio-level 9-speed cassette available in five different gradations. It has been designed for MTB and city & touring bikes (11-28 and 11-32 also for road bikes) and, thanks to Hyperglide (HG) technology, is fully convincing in terms of shifting function. It also features Mega 9 Lite technology, which offers narrow gear gradation even with a large overall gear ratio range.

Shimano Hyperglide cassettes (HG cassettes) have strategically-positioned ramps and special tooth profiles so that the chain can be completely guided directly onto the next sprocket. This prevents the chain from just touching the tips of the teeth before it actually touches down. This optimises the chain guide and enables fast, highly efficient shifting.
